So hey guys, it’s been a long time since I last posted (I have been mega busy lately with exams and going away etc) so sorry about that! Having said that, I have just spent the last five days at a Christian camp called Momentum, which is run by the Soul Survivor Church in Stafford, England. And it was an amazing camp with around Continue reading
So this may seem a bit of a weird thing to be talking about on this blog but hear me out. Basically, if you don’t know cover art is the picture that comes up on your phone when you play a song, or if your a bit older it’s the picture on the CD cover. I wonder how many people actually look and appreciate the cover art. In case your wondering, normally I don’t. But there are occasions where I sit back and think ‘that looks really cool’.
I thought that looking at the Hillsong cover art for their album ‘No Other Name’. I thought that for a couple of reasons, 1- it looks AWESOME, I love black and white pictures, and 2- it’s hidden meaning. Let me hit you with the facts, we see on average 5000 adverts every day, that is on stuff like TV, radio, the Internet etc. But how many do we actually remember? Almost none of them. We just tune it out. But also its always something that we should have, new technology, new beauty creams that make you look younger, new toys, new things to look at, new things to wear, new things to go to. How many of these do you remember? Almost none.
But what if all we saw on these billboards was God, be it in image or in text? That’s hard to imagine. What if every time you watched a YouTube video, or opened a webpage, or opened a magazine, or walked down the street, you saw God. Well that’s what these billboards are proposing. And the black and white? That’s the symbol of pure, simple Jesus.
Hey guys… So the sites been a bit quiet the last few weeks and I’m really sorry about that, life just takes over sometimes and it’s something that I want to get better at doing. Anyway, back to the reason your reading this. The verse for this month is from Psalm 84v10 and it says:
“Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked.”
It kinda seems weird when you first read it and at first I had to read it a couple of times for it to sink in properly. But then you think about it and you say yes I would rather spend one day with God than a thousand here, no matter how great it feels here on earth because God is always better, heaven is always better.
Imagine being a doorkeeper, at say a music festival for example. You stand at the outside, possibly in the freezing cold and you have to put up with drunks, people swearing at you, people with fake tickets trying to blab their way in. But at the end of the day you sit back and realise what great music you’ve had the privilege of listening to all day. And that’s what the second part of this verse is talking about, if you spend a life living with God, your seeing all the great things that he does, just from the outside. And the best thing about that? It makes it all the more special when you get in.
So, its Easter time and its a time to reflect on what happened to our Lord all those years ago. Why did Jesus die? For us. For our sins. So that we could be forgiven for our sins.
So this is a bit of a follow on post from my previous post about Louis Zamperini. He listened to Gods calling and trusted in him to make his life the best it could be. Continue reading
Hey guys, I just wanted to share something that is always on my heart. It’s the question of: when is the Holy Spirit with us? How can we tell? What does it feel like?
Well the first question is: why is this on my heart? Continue reading
Ok, there’s a bit of a story to this post. Basically, I got a wireless speaker in the last week, and I decided to find some new tracks to listen to it on, I ran out of Jesus Culture to listen to… So I decided to find some Tim Hughes (Apple Music YAY). And I found this absolutely amazing song that really made me sit up and listen.
The song is called ‘Everything’ and Continue reading
So today is a very special day. It is the launch of Project T- T for Testimony. Testimonies, I think, are one of the most important ways for us to see a clear example of Jesus’s love for us as he works in other peoples lives. And some testimonies that you hear are really heart-wrenching as you read what people have been through to get to where they are. When I hear other peoples testimonies, sometimes it makes me sit up and wonder why I moan about such trivial stuff. Because people go through such hardships and we often don’t find out till long after the event, but what never ceases to amaze me is how they hung on to their faith even in those really tough days and came through with Gods help. Ok, I promise to stop talking about Jesus Culture. At least for now. But if you’ve got to reading this far, then you probably like them, or have grown to like them, as much as I do then you’ll totally get what I’m on about. Continue reading
One of the things I like, surprisingly, is the title. One Thing Remains. What is that one thing? If I went out on the streets, and asked random strangers, they’d assume it was a film about the Apocalypse. Continue reading
